A Nigerian Muslim woman has sparked online debate after accusing her mosque leadership of sidelining her despite years of unpaid service.
In a viral video, the woman said she regularly cleaned the mosque toilets, mopped floors and handled exhausting chores, often falling sick but believing she was serving Allah.
She explained that when the position of Iya Adini was to be filled, she expected to be considered because of her commitment.
Instead, she was overlooked while women with social status and business influence were selected.
According to her, many of those chosen rarely attend prayers or struggle with Qur’anic recitation.
When she asked what role she would be given, she was reportedly told to carry the offering box during services.
The response left her questioning whether dedication without wealth is rewarded with leadership.
Her account has divided opinions online, with critics questioning priorities, while others urged steadfastness and faith publicly.
