The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, for an ambassadorial appointment.

In a statement signed by the state chairman, Amah Abraham, on behalf of the State Working Committee and the wider party leadership, the PDP described the gesture as timely and well earned.

The party said President Tinubu’s choice of Ikpeazu reflects national acknowledgement of the former governor’s record of public service.

“This appointment is a clear recognition of Dr Ikpeazu’s years of dedicated service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the peace, progress, and development of Abia State and Nigeria at large,” Abraham said.

“As a party, we take pride in his accomplishments and steadfast devotion to public service.”

The PDP noted that the nomination underscores the value of competence, experience, and inclusive governance in strengthening the country’s diplomatic engagements.

The party expressed confidence that Ikpeazu would “represent Nigeria with distinction,” adding that his appointment further highlights the importance of national unity and merit in public appointments.
