Nigerian Afrobeats star Bella Shmurda has revealed how a lavish lifestyle and poor financial decisions nearly left him bankrupt at the peak of his early success.
Speaking during an interview with Korty EO, the singer admitted that sudden fame led him into excessive spending, including buying luxury items he did not need.
He disclosed that he also spent heavily on friends, accommodating up to ten people and funding their lifestyles, including purchasing multiple cars to maintain appearances.
“I nearly went bankrupt. I was reckless,” he said, adding that he now carefully evaluates every financial decision.
The artiste noted that the experience served as a turning point, forcing him to adopt a more disciplined approach to money management.
He also advised young artistes to be financially prudent to avoid similar pitfalls.
