An overseas-based Nigerian man has triggered widespread debate online after claiming that many people living abroad are financially strained, despite popular perceptions of wealth.
In a video shared on X, the man disclosed that he had just €10 left in his bank account, using his experience to highlight what he described as the harsh realities of life in the diaspora.
He argued that a large number of people in Europe survive on overdrafts and live month to month, insisting it is rare to find anyone with €20,000 sitting idle in their account.
By contrast, he claimed that some African businessmen can readily raise between €100,000 and €300,000 in cash when necessary.
His comments quickly divided social media users. While some agreed that high living costs abroad drain incomes, others rejected his claims, insisting that financial stability depends on individual choices.
The video has reignited conversations about myths surrounding “abroad life.”
