Those who criticised me for supporting Tinubu, now in APC – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to past allegations that he worked to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying those who once criticised him have now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during the flag-off of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) construction project in the Apo area of Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said that instead of being condemned, he should be acknowledged for paving the way by supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration early.

His comments followed recent defections from the PDP to the APC, including those of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and former PDP National Youth Leader, Sunday Udeh-Okoye.

Udeh-Okoye previously contested for the role of PDP National Secretary against Samuel Anyanwu, a known political ally of Wike.

Wike pointed out that many of these former PDP figures are now aligned with him in their support for Tinubu’s government, despite their past criticisms.

The OSEX dual carriageway project being commissioned by Wike, stretched from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road near the Shoprite Junction in Abuja.

Wike said: “I’m very happy that very soon I will speak to Nigerians. I have been watching on daily televisions and social media people who said I want to destabilize the party. I’m working for APC, and all of them are now in APC.

“So they should commend me for working for where they are heading to, I should be commended for doing a good job for them.”
