Street-pop singer Portable has explained why he abandoned his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, claiming he was bitten and choked during the contest before eventually being disqualified.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram shortly after the fight at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, the singer displayed marks on his body, alleging that Okocha resorted to wrestling instead of boxing.
Portable insisted he had dominated the bout and landed more punches before the altercation escalated, prompting him to leave the ring.
He maintained that his music career was worth more than the prize money and declared he no longer wished to participate in such fights.
Although he later returned, officials disqualified him and awarded victory to Okocha. The highly anticipated rematch followed their controversial first encounter, with security personnel intervening after the fight descended into a wrestling-like scuffle during the opening round.
