Tunisia became the latest country to be eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat to Japan in Monterrey on Sunday, joining Haiti and Türkiye as the first teams knocked out of the tournament.
The North Africans, known as the Carthage Eagles, had earlier lost 5-1 to Sweden in their opening Group F match and remain without a point after two games, leaving them unable to qualify for the Round of 32.
In Group C, five-time world champions Brazil secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti in Philadelphia, confirming the Caribbean nation’s exit from the competition.
Haiti sit at the bottom of their group with zero points and a minus-four goal difference, making their final fixture against Morocco inconsequential.
Meanwhile, Türkiye’s 1-0 loss to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium left them with two defeats from two matches in Group D, sealing their elimination with one group game still remaining.
