Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has revealed that fellow Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are among the artistes who inspire her sound.
Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone Africa, Savage said her creativity is shaped by a wide range of influences, including her peers, American singer Brandy, and jazz music.
“I am inspired by so many people… Wiz, Burna, Davido… everybody,” she said, adding that her ultimate inspiration comes from God.
Her comments come about a year after she criticised the popular “Big 3” label used to describe Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as Nigeria’s leading global exports.
Savage had argued that the label sidelines female artistes and overlooks talents like Tems, while also highlighting disparities in promotion and industry resources.
