Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked widespread debate online after sharing her views on infidelity and gender dynamics.

Speaking on a recent episode of her Toke Moments podcast, Makinwa argued that women cheat more than men but are generally more discreet about it.

According to her, cheating is often easier for women because they do not need to invest as much time, money or effort as men typically do to maintain extramarital relationships.

She noted that this realisation has influenced her personal views, adding that cheating is no longer an automatic dealbreaker for her, though it comes with clear conditions.

Makinwa said society unfairly frames infidelity as a predominantly male behaviour, ignoring women’s capacity to cheat.

She stressed that a woman’s faithfulness is often a matter of self-control rather than opportunity, concluding that women tend to hide infidelity better than men.

Her comments have continued to generate strong reactions across social media.
