President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, December 28, departed Lagos for Europe to continue his end-of-year break ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The trip follows an invitation from the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), scheduled to hold in early January.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on December 28, 2025.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a week-long annual summit that brings together global leaders from government, business and civil society to deliberate on pathways for advancing sustainable development worldwide.
This year’s summit will be held under the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on aligning ambition with action in areas such as innovation, finance and human capital, while showcasing solutions for a more sustainable future.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
