A Nigerian mother has stirred debate online after bluntly warning her daughter to stop telling men she is hungry whenever they start chatting.
In the viral TikTok clip shared by a user identified as cyndy, the visibly frustrated woman cautioned that repeatedly complaining about hunger or asking for food at the early stage of conversations sends the wrong signal to potential suitors.
She questioned why her daughter would complain to men she has not visited or properly built a relationship with, stressing that such behaviour could make her appear desperate and overly dependent.
According to the mother, constantly saying “I’m hungry” or “I haven’t eaten” can push men away and ruin genuine chances of connection.
She added that men also get hungry but are not expected to announce it.
The video has generated mixed reactions, with some users praising the advice while others insisted expressing hunger should not be an issue.
