A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after sharing her experience with a former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) roommate who allegedly cut off communication immediately after their service year, only to later return with a request for accommodation.
According to her post on Wednesday, their friendship ended abruptly after NYSC despite her attempts to maintain contact, including sending a birthday message that was ignored.
She said she eventually accepted that their relationship had ended. However, she was shocked when the same person recently reached out, informing her that she would be visiting her hometown for wedding preparations and requested to stay at her family house.
The lady expressed disbelief at the request, questioning the sudden change in attitude and describing the situation as inappropriate. She revealed she has not responded to the message.
The story has since sparked wider conversations online about boundaries, friendships, and opportunistic relationships formed during NYSC service years in Nigeria.
