Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that the Eid al-Fitr celebration will hold on Friday, March 20, 2026, following the non-sighting of the crescent moon.
The announcement was made on Wednesday via HaraminInfo social media platforms, confirming that the end of Ramadan will not occur earlier than expected.
“The crescent moon has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia.

“Therefore, #EidAlFitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026. May Allāh allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl and may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn.”
Meanwhile, Muslims in Nigeria are awaiting an official declaration from the Sultan of Sokoto, who traditionally confirms the sighting of the moon and announces the date for the celebration locally.
