A Nigerian lawyer has gone viral after cleverly helping a client convert a verbal ₦300,000 loan into written evidence that can stand in court.
The young woman had lent money to an acquaintance without any written agreement, leaving her with no proof to demand repayment legally.
When she explained the situation, the lawyer devised a simple but strategic solution.
Instead of asking for the exact ₦300,000, the lawyer advised her to request ₦350,000 from the debtor in a written message. Although confused, the client followed the instruction.
As expected, the debtor replied, correcting the figure and clearly stating that the actual amount owed was ₦300,000.
That response, the lawyer explained, amounted to a written confession of the debt. With the debtor’s own words now documented, the client finally had evidence she could rely on to pursue recovery.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion online about legal awareness and the importance of documentation.
