Healthcare workers at Uwani General Hospital in Enugu have raised alarm over what they describe as life-threatening conditions at the facility, citing the absence of electricity, water, and essential medical supplies.
In a viral video circulating on X, nurses expressed frustration and fear while attending to patients, including a woman in active labour. One of the nurses lamented, “There’s no water, there’s no light, mosquitoes everywhere.
A woman is in labour right now and there’s no light. What if complications arise?”They also revealed that the hospital lacks oxygen and functional equipment such as incubators, placing newborns and critically ill patients at risk.
The workers questioned why nearby buildings enjoy steady electricity while the general hospital remains in darkness. They urged government authorities to urgently intervene and restore basic infrastructure to prevent avoidable deaths.
The footage has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians demanding immediate action to improve conditions at the public healthcare facility.
