Netizens have continued to react on social media after photos circulated online purportedly showing the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, wearing high-end luxury wristwatches on different occasions.

The images, which were widely shared across X and other platforms, triggered debate among Nigerians, with many users questioning the propriety of such displays by a senior public official at a time of economic hardship.

Several commentators pointed to the perceived contrast between the reported value of the accessories and the government’s ongoing calls for citizens to comply with tax obligations and embrace fiscal discipline.

Reacting on X, shehu_mahdi, wrote: ” This is not news but a further confirmation of their destructive nature in full circle.”

@ishakaa on his part wrote: “Just imagine, when millions of Nigerians are being skinned with demonic taxes under some forged tax law.”

@SamuelOmogor, however said: “It is a very pathetic situation we are in with these criminals in this country.”

@Abdulmalik80802, however recalled: “I remembered how this guy on Facebook defended Aisha buhari wrist watch ,buhari shoes ans Yusuf bikes from wailers trying to portray them as corrupt. Today ,him self is using same format as a wailer. No wonder he can’t wait on Facebook as people will call him out for hyp@crisy.”

@IdrisEffiong while caling everybody to retrospect wrote: ” It’s not just him, even you that is making noise now, once you get there, we see this kind thing play out as well, so the problem is not just those in power, but all of us Nigerians. Our mindset is wicked with corruptive selfishness and greed.”
