International human rights and political activist, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a strong petition to the Florida State Attorney General for the arrest of Nigeria’s FCT Minister, Nyesome Wike, over money laundering and asset trafficking. He made this claim in a recent tweet on his X page.
Mr. Sowore’s petition is based on the claim that the incumbent minister has acquired mansions in the Florida state under the name of his spouse, Suzzette Nyesome-Wike, the name of a Nigerian court of appeal Judge, and the names of his (Wike’s) children.
“His money laundering schemes would fall under the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative, a program of the U.S. Department of Justice designed to combat corruption by foreign public officials, recover the proceeds of foreign bribery and theft laundered into or through the United States, and return stolen assets to the citizens of the countries from which they are taken.
These properties should be seized, and Wike himself should face indictment under both Florida’s anti-money laundering statutes and U.S. federal law.” claimed Sowore
