Actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has cautioned critics against dragging her into the ongoing debate surrounding Uche Montana’s YouTube success.
The controversy followed the release of Montana’s film Monica 2, which reportedly surpassed five million views within 24 hours, sparking scepticism online.
Reports indicate the movie recorded over 4.4 million views within its first 15 hours. Some social media users questioned the authenticity of the figures, comparing them to Abraham’s Alakade GenZ, which reached three million views in a week.
Responding to one critic, Abraham distanced herself from the comparison and urged that Montana be allowed to enjoy her achievement.
“Pls, leave me out of this and let her enjoy her moment and time,” she said. The development highlights growing scrutiny over digital performance metrics within Nollywood’s expanding online distribution space.
