The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled an attempted bandit attack along the Kandawa–Dankar corridor in Batsari Local Government Area, seizing two AK-47 rifles, 24 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle.
Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement on Saturday, said the operation followed intelligence indicating that armed bandits planned to blockade the route.
He explained that the prompt deployment of the Divisional Police Officer and his team led to a confrontation, forcing the attackers to flee and abandon their weapons.
“The operatives intercepted the suspects, engaged them and repelled the attack through superior tactics and firepower,” the statement noted, adding that the operation is part of the command’s renewed tactical deployment and the Inspector-General of Police’s directive to enhance security nationwide.

Sadiq said investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing bandits.
Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu commended the officers for the operation and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support security efforts.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
