At least eight suspected bandits have been killed following an explosion triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along Lukope Road in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on March 20, was reported along the Kurebe–Kushaka axis, a known route used by armed groups operating within the forest belt.

A counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the development in a post on X, noting that the explosive device was believed to have been planted by the bandits themselves to target advancing security forces.
