Actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has described his recognition at the Africa Illustration Awards as surreal, saying the honour reflects a shift from personal ambition to inspiring young dreamers.
Adedimeji received the award at a ceremony where he was recognised for his impact in the film industry and later shared a video of the moment on Instagram.
He said he started his career with the simple goal of showcasing his talent and building a name for himself but has since evolved to focus on motivating emerging creatives.
The father of three described the award as a testament to hard work, dedication, professionalism, and determination. He added that it feels unusual being regarded as an icon, having once looked up to industry greats himself.
Adedimeji thanked the organisers and said the recognition strengthens his commitment to continue his work and inspire others across Africa’s creative space.
