Former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has issued a stern warning to Boko Haram insurgents against entering Port Harcourt.
Speaking in a video that quickly went viral on social media, he emphasised that he would personally confront any terrorist attempting to operate in the city. Asari-Dokubo stated that his commitment to defending his community transcends religious affiliation.
The ex-militant’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the rising wave of killings and kidnappings across Nigeria. His strong stance reflects his history of armed resistance in various regions, including Zamfara, Plateau, and Niger States, where he has previously taken direct action against insurgents.
“This is simple and clear: if Boko Haram enters Port Harcourt, my duty is to stop them, by any means necessary,” Asari-Dokubo declared.
He went on to stress that he is serious about protecting his home city, contrasting his approach with those who are hesitant or overly apologetic in matters of security. His comments have sparked renewed debate over the influence of former militants in contemporary security affairs and the role they might play in complementing official law enforcement efforts.
Despite criticisms, he remains adamant that no compromise will be made if any terrorist threat emerges within Port Harcourt, reinforcing his reputation as a figure willing to take direct action in defence of his people.
