Popular Nigerian preacher, Apostle Arome Osayi, has sparked widespread reactions online after making a controversial statement about young Christians and speaking in tongues.
During a recent sermon, the cleric declared that anyone who is 21 years old and has never spoken in tongues continuously for six hours is living a “joke.”
Osayi described speaking in tongues as a critical spiritual discipline, stressing that it reflects growth, divine alignment and personal breakthrough.
He urged young believers to take the practice seriously, warning that neglecting it could hinder their destiny and success in life.
The comment quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions across social media.
While some defended the pastor, describing his words as a call to deeper spiritual commitment, others criticised the remark as extreme and discouraging.
Many argued that speaking in tongues should not be used as a measure of one’s value, intelligence or life progress, insisting that faith should not be forced or compared.
