A Nigerian man has ignited online debate by criticising Chioma Adeleke, wife of Afrobeats superstar Davido, over her choice of outfit.
Chiedu Ikechukwu, via a viral Facebook post, highlighted the enormous cost of the ensemble, claiming it equalled 14 years of his monthly salary and could feed thousands for three months.
“Do you know that the cost of your outfit is my 14 years salary? How will you be wearing outfit that can feed 5,000 people for 3 months?” he wrote. He urged Chioma to consider more affordable clothing, suggesting local markets in Aba, Onitsha, and Okirika.
Government official Ossai Ovie Success also weighed in, describing the outfit as ‘half-naked’. This incident follows Chioma’s previous Grammy Awards controversy, where her sheer dress drew both praise and criticism.
Amid the backlash, Chioma maintained her stance, stating, “I will wear it again.” The debate continues to spark discussions on wealth, fashion, and social responsibility in Nigeria.
