A Nigerian man has sparked intense debate online after revealing how a staged medical prank led to the collapse of his five-year marriage.
The man said he earned about ₦500,000 monthly and spent over ₦400,000 of it on his wife, including funding her education from O-Level to a Master’s degree and covering medical bills.
Doubting her commitment, he decided to test her love by presenting fake medical results showing severe kidney damage.
According to him, his wife reacted angrily, blamed his lifestyle, and told him to face the problem alone, suggesting he contact his family abroad for treatment.
When he later begged her to donate one kidney, she flatly refused and asked him to seek help from his relatives.
The situation became more emotional when his parents reportedly offered to donate their kidneys.
Although he later revealed it was a prank, he said her reaction convinced him she did not truly love him. He has since filed for divorce.
