Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has revealed that allocations to states from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) have risen, noting that some state governments are reluctant to admit the improved inflow of funds.

He called on governors across the country to ensure that the increased revenue is reflected in tangible development projects and improved welfare for citizens.

Governor Oborevwori spoke while performing the groundbreaking ceremony of the N39.3 billion Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli North Local Government Area, where he rejected narratives suggesting that state governments are facing severe financial strain.

He maintained that states now have access to more funds than before.

According to him, it is wrong for leaders to misrepresent the financial situation to the public.

“More money is coming to the states. I am not a governor who will hide it. There is money. Use the money, as we are using it in our state. Use it in your state, so that the people will be very happy,” he said.

He further added, “The money is coming from somewhere. Some people want to hide that there is no money; there is money.”

The governor emphasized that FAAC allocations have improved considerably, giving states the capacity to fast-track development projects and rebuild citizens’ trust in governance.
