A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has reiterated the expulsion of 18 prominent politicians, warning the public to disregard any claims by the affected individuals of continued party membership.

The statement, issued on Wednesday by PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, described the expelled members as “impostors” masquerading as legitimate party officials.

The expulsion, originally enacted by the party’s National Executive Committee on 18 November, cited alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct under the amended 2017 PDP Constitution.

Those on the list include Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, alongside former governors, senators, and senior party officials.

Other notable figures expelled are former Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom, ex-Senate President Adolphus Wabara, former Deputy National Chairmen Taofeek Arapaja and Chief Bode George, as well as former Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum.

The list further includes political figures such as Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Ben Obi, Okechukwu Obiechina, Suleiman Kadade Mohammed, and Umar Sani.

The faction dismissed a recent gathering in Ibadan, attended by some expelled members, as a social event rather than a legitimate party convention.

Anyanwu warned that anyone claiming to be a newly elected party officer is an interloper, stressing that the faction remains united under its constitutionally recognised leadership.

The disclaimer comes amid heightened tensions within the opposition party, following a counter-statement from the Turaki-led faction asserting that Wike, Anyanwu, former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, and others had ceased to be PDP members.

Both factions continue to expel and disown one another over alleged anti-party activities, deepening the internal crisis.
