Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of the security situation in Oyo State, alleging that the presidency failed to respond swiftly to the crisis.

Speaking during a public engagement, Obi claimed that the President did not contact the Oyo State governor for 50 days despite the growing security concerns.

He argued that, if confronted with a similar situation, he would personally visit the affected area within two days and ensure security operations were intensified to flush out those responsible.

Obi maintained that the affected bush is part of Nigeria and insisted that those behind the insecurity should be apprehended without delay.

He also urged security agencies to adopt greater transparency by publicly parading suspects arrested during such operations instead of concealing their identities.

His remarks have added to ongoing discussions over the Federal Government’s response to insecurity and the need for stronger measures to address security challenges.
