Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has revealed that he deliberately abandoned the “bad boy” image that defined the early years of his career after realising it no longer aligned with his personal values and professional ambitions.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, the actor said the controversial persona was largely influenced by external forces within the entertainment industry and served its purpose at a particular stage of his life.
However, he explained that growth and increased responsibilities made it necessary to embrace a new direction.
Iyke warned that many entertainers struggle to remain relevant because they fail to recognise when a public image has become outdated.
He stressed that reinvention is essential for career longevity, noting that holding on to an old brand can limit opportunities and relationships.
According to him, knowing when to leave a particular phase behind was key to his personal development and continued success.
