Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has dragged at Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni, questioning the broadcaster’s credibility to challenge political leaders on national television.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Edochie criticised Oseni’s interviewing style and referenced a past incident in Lagos in which the journalist was reportedly caught driving on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.

“Is this not the same Rufai Oseni that was caught driving on BRT lane?” Edochie asked in the video.

He alleged that the television anchor reacted angrily when confronted by officials enforcing traffic regulations.

“When officials caught you, instead of apologising, you were shouting, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m going to call the governor of Lagos State.’”

According to the actor, the presenter only offered an apology after footage of the encounter surfaced online.

“If not because somebody had a video, you could not even apologise. If there was no video, what would have happened?” he said.

Edochie also criticised Oseni’s conduct during interviews, accusing him of treating guests disrespectfully and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere on air.

“How can you invite somebody and make the guest uncomfortable?” Edochie queried.

“If a guest is not comfortable, the first thing you do is apologise and make the guest feel at ease. How can you tell a guest that if they’re not comfortable, they are free to walk out of the studio?”

The actor further condemned what he described as the presenter’s confrontational style.

“You are insulting people on national TV. You’re a very disrespectful person. That is not journalism,” he said.

Edochie also used the opportunity to defend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging critics to accord the Nigerian leader respect while giving his administration time to deliver on its mandate.

“Jagaban President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria, whether you like it or not. He is our President, you must respect him,” he stated. “The man just came in. Give him time. Rome was not built in a day.”
