Also named among the non-career ambassadors are Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State, and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff. These individuals were not part of the earlier ambassadorial list released by the presidency.

Earlier, three nominees, Kayode Are (Ogun State), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo State), had been sent to the Senate and screened by its Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The new batch of 65 nominees has now been referred to the same committee for screening within a week.
