Afrobeats superstar Davido has declared that nobody could defeat him in a free and fair election in Nigeria, claiming he could even win the presidency under a transparent electoral system. The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, made the remarks during a livestream with online streamer Carter Efe, while stressing that he has no plans to venture into politics for now.
According to Davido, he is discouraged by what he believes is a lack of transparency in Nigeria’s electoral process, insisting he would rather continue making music than participate in elections he considers manipulated. He also said he is not the type to quietly accept being cheated if election results were altered.
Davido further revealed that he is closely following developments ahead of the Osun State governorship election. His comments have since sparked widespread reactions online, with supporters applauding his confidence while others questioned whether celebrity popularity would translate into electoral success.
