Kano State Government on Sunday dismissed rumours of an impending security crisis, assuring residents that the state remains calm, stable, and fully under control.
The clarification followed a State Security Council meeting attended by all security chiefs, where Governor Abba Yusuf received a comprehensive briefing on ongoing security operations.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the government said no credible intelligence suggested any imminent threat to public safety.
The statement described the circulating rumours as false, sensational, and intended to create panic, warning that individuals behind such posts could face legal consequences.
Authorities confirmed that security formations have been strategically deployed across Kano, with surveillance intensified in all areas. The government is working closely with intelligence services, law enforcement agencies, and community structures to prevent any potential breach.
Residents were urged to remain calm, continue with their daily routines, and use social media responsibly. The statement also highlighted ongoing measures to strengthen intelligence gathering, inter-agency coordination, and deployment of advanced security mechanisms to ensure public safety.
“Kano will not succumb to fear, misinformation, or attempts to destabilise its peace. The government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property,” it said.
Governor Yusuf’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and called on residents to support state authorities by reporting suspicious activities.
