Iran’s newly installed supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued his first public message to the nation, calling for unity while vowing that those killed during the recent conflict would be avenged.

The statement, broadcast on Iranian state television, addressed the aftermath of the war and acknowledged the heavy toll it took on families across the country.

In the message, Khamenei expressed sympathy for citizens who lost relatives during the conflict, linking their grief to his own personal losses.

“This is something that I share with the people who have lost their ones because I lost my father, I lost my wife,” he said.

“My sister lost her child as well as the husband who has been martyred.”

Khamenei urged Iranians to remain united despite the hardships, saying national solidarity would be crucial in the country’s recovery.

“We have to protect this unity and this is only possible when we are together and we find common ground,” the statement said.

Reflecting on the suffering experienced during the conflict, he said faith and patience would help the country endure the difficult period.

“But what it makes it easier for us to endure all these plights is to trust the grace of God and to know that patience is going to resolve it,” he said.

He also praised citizens across the country for what he described as their resistance during the war, commending people “from all walks of life who stood against the enemy.”

In addition to his call for unity, the new leader signaled that Iran would seek retaliation for those killed during the conflict.

“I assure everyone that we will not ignoring the fact that we are going to revenge our martyrs,” he said.

“It is not only about the fact that they martyred our supreme leader.

“And it is not only about him, it is about every single countryman that has been killed during the recent war.”
