Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shed light on why she does not live the flashy lifestyle often associated with movie stars, saying acting alone is rarely enough to make performers wealthy in Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent interview, the respected actress dismissed public assumptions that long years in the film industry automatically translate to riches.
According to her, payments from television platforms and movie distributors are modest and cannot sustain extravagant living.
Akintola noted that people within the industry understand how limited acting earnings can be, especially from platforms like Africa Magic and similar outlets.
She added that many of the luxurious lifestyles seen online are often funded by income streams outside acting.
The actress explained that social media has distorted public perception, making it appear as though movie roles alone can bankroll wealth.
She stressed that Nollywood’s financial realities are far less glamorous than many assume.
