Renowned gospel singer Frank Edwards has revealed that he recorded his hit song, “Mma Mma,” under a blanket while living as a squatter, a moment he said eventually led to his first ₦4 million recording deal.
Speaking during a recent church ministration, the singer recalled that his mother gave him ₦150,000 in 2011 to set up a modest recording studio in a corner of the room where he was staying.
Because the house was close to a busy roadside and lacked a vocal booth, he covered himself and the microphone with a blanket to reduce noise during recording.
Frank said a visit from music marketer Honesty Music changed his life after the marketer was impressed by the quality of his songs despite the studio’s appearance.
He accepted the ₦4 million contract immediately, saying the opportunity helped him secure a better home, build a proper studio and later connect with Don Moen.
