Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally defected to the Accord Party, less than 24 hours before the party’s 2026 governorship primary scheduled for Wednesday.
On Tuesday evening, Accord Party flags were mounted at the Osun State Government House, where Adeleke held a meeting with leaders of his former party.

Adeleke, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid an internal leadership crisis, announced his move while addressing members of the State Executive Council, top government officials, and Accord Party leaders at the Government House in Osogbo.
He disclosed that he had secretly joined the Accord Party over a month ago, explaining that the new platform would enable him to seek re-election and “govern the state for another four years.”
Adeleke had earlier resigned from the PDP on December 1, 2025, after reportedly being denied admission into the All Progressives Congress about two months earlier.
