Eight members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The lawmakers announced their switch on Tuesday during plenary at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
Those who defected are Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe (Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado/Tofa Federal Constituency), Garba Ibrahim Diso (Gwale Federal Constituency), Hassan Shehu Hussain (Nassarawa Federal Constituency), Idris Dankawu (Kumbotso Federal Constituency), Muhamamad Chiroma Nalaraba (Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency), Rabiu Yusuf (Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency), Ghali Mustapha Tijjani (Albasu/Gaya/Ajingi Federal Constituency), and Muhammad Bello Shehu (Fagge Federal Constituency).

The development was witnessed by Abba Kabir Yusuf and former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
The defections come amid shifting political alignments in the state, following the earlier move by Governor Yusuf to the APC.
Similarly, his former ally, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently left the NNPP for the African Democratic Congress.
