A Nigerian woman has taken to social media after helping a pregnant friend in labour, only to face a financial dispute when the friend’s husband refused to settle the ₦850,000 Caesarean Section (CS) hospital bill.

The woman recounted that she received a distress call at 2 a.m. from her friend, who was in severe labour.

She delayed initially due to the hour but arrived around 5 a.m. and urged doctors to perform a CS if necessary.

The patient, who had previously delivered three children naturally, was hesitant, but ultimately agreed. A healthy 4kg baby boy was delivered successfully.

Afterwards, she contacted the husband, a truck driver, who rejected responsibility for the private hospital expenses, leaving her financially burdened despite acting out of goodwill.

The woman described the situation as “serious trouble” stemming from an act of kindness, warning others about the risks of helping in emergencies.
