Relationship counsellor and founder of the David Christian Centre, Kingsley Okonkwo, has explained the motivation behind the Bible verse tattoo on his arm, saying it is an intentional effort to share the Christian message in a modern way.
Okonkwo recently unveiled the tattoo in a video shared on his official Instagram page, where the scripture John 3:16 appears in Roman numerals as “III: XVI.” The reveal coincided with his 50th birthday celebration.
The display quickly generated debate on social media, with some users applauding the gesture while others questioned whether tattoos are appropriate for a pastor.
Responding to the reactions, Okonkwo defended his choice in a statement released on Sunday, describing the tattoo as a tool for unconventional evangelism.

According to him, the visible scripture has opened conversations about faith and enabled him to spread the Gospel to millions beyond the walls of the church.
“My religious brothers and sisters were busy judging over tattoo; they didn’t notice that the gospel (John 3:16) was preached to millions in 24hrs by almost all blogs.
“Anyway, we will share in details on Monday night. For now, please come to my praise party/thanksgiving service this Sunday @dcclagos on mainland & island. There will be food, fun, and praise”, he wrote.
“Those who want to hear about tattoos, drink water and relax. We will talk on Monday after the parties this weekend,” he added.
