The Nigeria Police Force has debunked a widely circulated document claiming that officers attached to high-profile individuals were ordered to immediately return to the 50 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Abuja.

The memo, allegedly signed by CSP Suleiman Abdullahi, purportedly listing VIPs including Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, Aisha Buhari, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and others, was described by the Force as fake and misleading.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, clarified on Friday, “No officer bearing that name serves in the 50 PMF Squadron, and the position of Admin Officer in any PMF squadron is not held by an officer of Chief Superintendent rank. This document is a deliberate fabrication intended to confuse the public.”

The NPF stressed that the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties, as directed by the Presidency, has indeed commenced. However, the process is being carried out in a structured, phased, and professional manner to ensure that no security vacuum arises that could be exploited by criminal elements. Measures have been put in place to maintain law and order throughout the transition period.

The police further assured citizens that public safety remains their priority, with operations designed to prevent any disruption or security risk. They urged Nigerians to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid spreading unverified documents that could undermine public confidence.

Officials emphasised that the Force remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property nationwide. The structured withdrawal plan includes phased reassignments and continued collaboration with state and federal security agencies to ensure seamless protection for VIPs during the transition.

Hundeyin concluded, “The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order. Public safety is not at risk, and our citizens can continue to have confidence in the professionalism and integrity of the Force as we implement the Presidential directive.”
