Afrobeats superstar Davido has called for the establishment of dedicated therapy centres for celebrities and other highly successful individuals, saying the emotional pressure of fame can take a serious toll on mental health.
Speaking during a recent interview, the singer said public figures often struggle with maintaining success while facing relentless criticism and unrealistic expectations.
He noted that even global icons remain vulnerable to harsh public scrutiny, citing Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo as an example after criticism followed Portugal’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Davido said preserving the reputation he has built over the years remains one of his greatest concerns, adding that he constantly prays for wisdom to make the right decisions and protect his legacy.
He stressed that many successful people silently battle emotional challenges because of life in the spotlight, insisting specialised therapy centres would provide professional support for those coping with the unique psychological demands of fame.
