Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Governorship Election With Landslide Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election conducted on Saturday after securing 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, stating that Oyebanji had satisfied all legal requirements and was duly re-elected.

According to the final results, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Olumayokun Oluyede, polled 40,533 votes, while the African Democratic Congress candidate, Dare Bejide, secured 12,872 votes.

Out of 988,251 registered voters, 384,940 were accredited, while 382,109 votes were cast and 375,777 were declared valid.

The APC dominated all parts of the state, including Ikere Local Government Area, where the PDP candidate hails from.

Oyebanji’s victory secures him a second term as governor of Ekiti State.
