“You Can’t Be a Role Model Without Money” — Nedu Wazobia Sparks Debate

Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has ignited fresh debate online after stating that financial stability largely determines who is regarded as a role model in Nigeria.

The outspoken radio host made the remark during a podcast conversation with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where he spoke candidly about wealth, perception and social influence.

According to Nedu, society increasingly associates success and respect with money, making it difficult for people who are financially struggling to be seen as role models.

He argued that admiration today is often tied to visible comfort and lifestyle, rather than character or values.

In a clip from the discussion shared on Instagram, Nedu also claimed that many women living in Lekki maintain lifestyles they cannot independently afford, alleging that their rent is often paid by men.

His comments have triggered mixed reactions, with supporters agreeing that money shapes influence, while critics insist that integrity and impact matter more than wealth.
