Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set social media abuzz after hinting at a possible presidential run.
In a viral video shared on January 8, 2026, the singer was seen speaking casually with friends and family when he unexpectedly mentioned forming a political party and contesting for Nigeria’s highest office.
“Wizkid political party. WPP. I am running for presidency…” he said, stopping short of naming a specific election year.
The statement immediately triggered heated debate online, with many questioning whether it was a joke or a serious long-term plan.
Wizkid also revealed that his movement would not align with major parties such as APC, PDP or Labour Party.
The comments came on the same day he became the first African artist to hit 10 billion streams on Spotify, adding to the buzz surrounding the moment.
