“We Have Normalised Choosing Sides” – AY Makun Calls for Accountability in Relationships

Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has called for greater accountability in relationships, warning against the growing culture of taking sides in emotional conflicts on social media.

In a post shared on X, the entertainer said modern discourse often reduces complex relationship issues into simple “heroes and villains” narratives, especially when public figures are involved.

Makun argued that both emotional neglect and betrayal are painful experiences, but one should not be used to justify the other. He stressed that relationships would have a better chance of survival if both parties focused on responsibility rather than blame-shifting or public validation.

According to him, social media has amplified the problem by encouraging quick judgments without understanding underlying causes. He urged couples to embrace introspection and mutual accountability, noting that lasting resolution requires effort from both sides rather than one-sided accusations.

His remarks have sparked conversations online about relationship dynamics and online judgment culture.
