Nigerian music star Davido has reacted after the All Progressives Congress (APC) appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the National Campaign Council for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
Responding to the announcement on X, the singer said he likes the governor because he is from his wife’s state but declared they would “meet on the field,” referring to the election. “Chai, and I like Hope o. My wife’s state. Hmmm. No worry, we go meet for field,” Davido wrote.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the governorship election for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Davido has remained actively involved in Osun politics over the years, campaigning for his uncle during the 2022 governorship election and openly celebrating his victory.
He has also previously commented on electoral matters and political developments in the state.
