The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has called on the Federal Government to release the detained leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, warning that continued detention could deepen public dissatisfaction and trigger wider protests across the country.
Speaking to members of his congregation in a video that went viral on Saturday, the cleric argued that the government should apply the same standard to all controversial figures, insisting that if Kanu remains in custody, similar action should be taken against Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
Ayodele said treating both men differently could raise questions about the government’s sincerity and commitment to fairness.
He stressed that Nigerians are closely watching how authorities handle sensitive national issues and cautioned against actions that could fuel further tension.
The cleric also expressed concern over growing public frustration, warning that protests could escalate if citizens’ concerns are not adequately addressed.
“Try and release Nnamdi Kanu,” Ayodele stated, adding that “Protest will seize this Tinubu government” if the situation remains unresolved.
