Tinubu, Soludo meet at Aso villa to talk security and regional collaboration

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, visited President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, in a meeting described as warm and cordial.

The visit followed Soludo’s resounding victory in the recent governorship election, in which he won across all 21 Local Government areas of the state.

Tinubu personally congratulated the governor, praising the trust and confidence the people of Anambra placed in his leadership and vision for the state.

Speaking about the meeting, Soludo said, “Mr. President received me with his usual warmth, big smile, and open arms. He personally congratulated me on the mandate given to me by the good people of Anambra State, a victory he described as a testament to the trust and confidence Ndi Anambra have in our shared vision for a livable and prosperous homeland.”

Earlier in the week, Soludo joined other Southern governors and traditional rulers in Iperu, Ogun State, to unveil a regional blueprint focused on tackling security challenges and promoting economic resilience.

The meeting, hosted jointly by the Southern Governors’ Forum and the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, resulted in several strategies to strengthen inter-state cooperation, including intelligence-sharing, advocacy for state police, and a harmonised resident identification programme to enhance planning and security management.

A statement from Soludo’s office emphasised that the forum’s agenda went beyond security. “We reaffirmed our commitment to stronger regional cooperation, institutional reforms, and people-centred policies as essential tools for building a safer, more prosperous, and united Nigeria,” it said.

Leaders also pledged to improve governance by addressing illegal resource exploitation and supporting traditional institutions as key partners in conflict resolution and grassroots mobilisation.

The meetings underscored a shared confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, with Southern leaders praising his commitment to national stability and economic reforms.

They reiterated their resolve to advance the collective political, security, and economic interests of Southern Nigeria while collaborating constructively with the Federal Government for national progress.
