Nigerian media personality Noble Igwe has reacted to the public discourse surrounding the funeral of late actor Alex Ekubo, suggesting that some of the online videos made it appear as though his passing was being celebrated rather than mourned.
In an Instagram story, Igwe noted there was no need to give Daddy Freeze more reasons to speak, but added that several clips from the event gave the impression of a celebratory atmosphere.
His remarks come amid ongoing reactions to the actor’s burial held on Thursday, June 18, where family, colleagues, and friends gathered to pay their last respects.
The funeral had earlier drawn mixed commentary online, including criticism from Daddy Freeze regarding elements of the service of songs and public participation.
Igwe’s post has since added to the broader debate about how celebrity funerals are portrayed on social media, with differing views on whether such gatherings should focus strictly on mourning or also reflect celebration of life.
